Ghost of the Walls
“Ghost of the Walls”. Sept 2008. 5 min.
This peice was created for the Exploding Language Exhibtion in Minneapolis. Artists in the Exploding Language exhibtion made public woks that crtically responded to the 1970′s “Black Arts Movement”. “Ghost of the Walls” is a critical homage to the murals that were created during the “Black Arts Movement” that have been destroyed, painted over or otherwise no longer exist.
“Ghost of the Walls” in situ. Sept 26, 2008.
“Ghost of the Walls” was projected on the side of a 3 and half story building in North Minneapolis. This particular location had been the site of one the largest riots in Minneapolis during the 1960′s. Coincidentally the piece was projected at the very same hour of the first Obama/McCain debate which could be heard from passing cars and open apartment windows.
